Location - The NIRT is located close to the Rubber Research Institute of India (RRII) at Puthuppally, 8 km to east of Kottayam in Kerala State. The nearest airport is at Kochi, 80 km to the north and railway station is at Kottayam. The road approach is by the NH 220, Kottayam Kumali Road.
The Institute is adjacent to Rubber Research Institute of Indiaand is housed in a building of 37,000 sq. ft. including five lecture halls with modern amenities. In addition to these, there are Demonstration Laboratories, Library, Museum, Auditorium and a Hostel for accommodating 30 participants.The Rubber Training Institute has necessary infrastructure including five AC training halls, library, computer laboratory, four demonstration laboratories for latex and dry rubber based technology, canteen and hostel. The energy requirement of the entire campus except the processing labs with heavy machines is met through solar source.
